A: While the tap exists, a new meter and updated paperwork are required to safely provide service to a new owner.

Q: Is this the same as a reconnection?
A: No. Re-service applies to a new owner. Reconnection applies to restoring service for the same owner.

Q: Is the deposit included?
A: Yes. The required $200 membership deposit is included in the re-service package.

Standard New Service Cost: $2,613

(Additional costs may apply if a line extension or road bore is required)

What the $2,613 Includes:

  5. Administrative / application processing - $50
  6. Easement filing - $33

New Service FAQs

Q: Why is the cost higher than just installing a meter?
A: New service includes system capacity (equity buy-in), inspection, tap installation, administrative processing, and required legal filings.

Q: Does this guarantee service will be installed?
A: No. All new service requests require an inspection. If additional work is required, costs will be quoted before proceeding.

Q: Is the equity buy-in a one-time fee?
A: Yes. It is a one-time fee per meter that represents your share of the system’s infrastructure.

For all new meters, the member must install their own cut-off valve on their side and within two feet of the meter. Tariff Section E 20(e) We will install this for you for all NEW Meter Sets. Please note that some existing meter assemblies may not have a cut-off valve. If your property’s assembly is not equipped with a cut-off valve, we strongly encourage you to have one installed before you have a major leak and subsequent large water loss on your side of the line. DeBerry WSC responsibility for service ends at the water meter. All fittings and assemblies (pressure regulators, home filters, etc.) on the customer’s side of the meter are the customer’s responsibility. Finally, we know the leaks can happen at the most inopportune times. If you are not familiar with performing water line repairs on your property, we recommend that you choose a plumber that will respond to your property on evenings or weekends before you have a problem.
